This salon was my saving grace after Jolie Nails canceled on me less than a week before my appointment.  I had originally booked at Jolie to get my late cat’s portrait painted since that was their specialty.  My Japanese friend found Avarice for me about a week before as a back up, and there were able to fit me in during the little window I had available for the appointment.

Not only were they so kind and accommodating, but they were able to do my really specific nail request that Jolie Nails specializes in, but wasn’t able to do.  My cat had suddenly passed away about a year earlier.  I wanted to do cat memorial nails of him.  Yes, I am that weird person, but I didn’t want a tattoo because needles freak me out.  Fancy nails seemed like the next best thing. My cat had an ancient Egyptian name.  The ancient Egyptians believed the gods skin was made of gold and their hair of lapis.  I explained my concept of lapis and gold with one nail as a portrait of his face and another as the hieroglyphs in Ancient Middle Egyptian of his name. I thought they wouldn’t be able to do all of it, but she asked if I had a picture of the cat, and said all of it would be no problem!

The nails turned out better than I had imagined.  The gel nails were amazing, and it looked like a photo of my cat.  The stone look she created was beautiful and resembled lapis lazuli. The artists here are very talented!

The nail tech was super friendly and spoke excellent English.  The salon is a tiny room inside of an apartment building. My only complaint is they didn’t last as long as some of the other gels I’ve gotten.  When I’ve had characters or portraits done, this seems to be the case though for some reason.  If you are looking for your dream nail concept to be brought to life, I would highly recommend Nail Salon Avarice.
